Bilder für Mama is an experimental 500-page photo project presenting everyday iPhone photographs, unknowingly gathered over several years and originally taken as personal records or messages shared with family — hence the title, translating as "Pictures for Mum." Inspired by Stephen Shore's American Surfaces, it explores the contemporary snapshot as a form of vernacular photography: spontaneous and free from artistic convention, an exercise in letting go of learned principles and returning to the instinctive image-making of the beginner. Presented at the exact width they appear on a phone screen, the images are removed from their digital context and transformed into a physical document of the early 2020s.
